A bus transporting students to Great Mills High School ran off a back road in St. Mary’s City on Friday morning.

“It’s a special-needs bus transporting students to Great Mills High School,” Jeff Thompson, director of transportation, said.

The bus driver was turning the bus around on Rosecroft Road, and, Thompson said, “when she backed up, she went off the road.”

Two students were on board at the time of the accident, he said.

“There’s no serious injuries reported,” Thompson said at about 9 a.m. Friday.

One student was taken home by his parents, Thompson said.

“Everything else seems to be OK,” he said.
