Top quarterback transfers to Damascus -- Gazette.Net

Quarterback Colar Kuhns, a Division I recruit, transferred to Damascus High School from Calvert Hall College High School, according to Damascus football coach Eric Wallich.

Wallich said he thinks Kuhns is immediately eligible, and Damascus Athletic Director Joe Doody said he's working with William “Duke” Beattie, the county's director of system-wide athletics, to resolve that issue.

Beattie did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Wallich said Kuhns' role will be limited. Kuhns is a senior.

“He's not going to be the starting quarterback,” Wallich said.

Immediately or at any point?

“Any point,” Wallich said. “... He just showed up.”

Senior quarterback Chase Williams started the season's first two games for No. 4 Damascus, which hosts No. 2 Quince Orchard High School at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Williams has competed 11-of-16 passes for 202 yards and four touchdowns.

Kuhns started Calvert Hall's third game, but he was replaced in the second quarter of the win over Franklin, according to The Baltimore Sun. He split snaps during Calvert Hall's most recent game, a 21-3 loss to Our Lady of Good Counsel High School that dropped Calvert Hall to 1-3.

According to, a recruiting website, Kuhns has scholarship offers from six schools: Cornell, Bryant, Bucknell, Eastern Kentucky, Toledo, William & Mary,

Calvert Hall coach Donald Davis said Kuhns threw for more than 2,000 yards last season.
