In a ceremony held at The Fisherman’s Inn and Crab Deck in Grasonville on June 19, Bay Community Support Services Inc. (BAY-CSS) Board President Mike Mead was presented with the Maryland Association of Community Services (MACS) Volunteer Award for his exceptional volunteer service to the organization and to the people with disabilities it serves.
Mead has been an enthusiastic volunteer for Bay Community Support Services Inc. for more than 10 years, a press release states. He has served on the board of directors in various capacities to include his current role as board president. He has brought a unique viewpoint to the board, where he brings his understanding of what a family member with a disability needs, along with his business savvy as the vice president of a successful company. These two combined perspectives have helped move Bay Community Support Services in the best direction possible, according to the release.
Recently, Mead spearheaded a successful, new fundraiser on behalf of BAY-CSS, the inaugural Walk, Run & Roll that was held in St. Mary’s City on April 27. He single-handedly developed the concept and moved the project forward, helping BAY-CSS to raise more than $12,000 on the annual event in its first year, the release states.
