Pronounced dead at St. Agnes Hospital

An Owings man was killed in a Saturday morning accident in Elkridge after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed.

At 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Howard County Police were called for a report of a man who had crashed his motorcycle in Elkridge, according to a Howard County Police press release.

David Roy Spriggs, 42, of Owings was driving his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle south on Route 1 and tried to take the exit for Route 100 east, the press release states. Police said they believe Spriggs lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from the vehicle.

Paramedics arrived on scene and rendered aid. Spriggs was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The cause of the crash is still unknown and is being investigated, according to the press release.
