A Leonardtown Middle School student was charged Thursday with a drug distribution offense, according to law officers alleging she distributed anti-depression pills to two other students, at least one of whom was taken by a parent to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital.

The 14-year-old girl arrested through the investigation was released to a guardian to await further action by the St. Mary’s Department of Juvenile Services, St. Mary’s sheriff’s Capt. Daniel Alioto said.

Thirteen additional pills were recovered from the suspect, the sheriff’s office reports, after the two other students received and consumed doses of the prescription medication.
