Charles County Department of Human Resources Director Stephen A. Brayman has resigned after seven years to pursue new opportunities, the county announced Friday.

Brayman, whose resignation was effective Dec. 17, served as human resources director since August 2006.

“I thank all of the hardworking employees of Charles County Government for their support over these years,” Brayman said in county news release.

Prior to working for the county, Brayman spent 15 years as a safety and risk management administrator for the Rockville city government. He also served four terms as mayor of College Park between 2001 and 2009.

A message could not be left at a College Park phone number listed for Brayman.

Charles County commissioners’ President Candice Quinn Kelly (D) declined comment on Brayman’s resignation, stating the county was sticking by its issued press release.

“We are grateful to Mr. Brayman for his dedicated service to the residents of Charles County. We wish him success in his future endeavors,” Charles County Administrator Mark Belton said in the release.

Megan Donnick will serve as acting director of human resources until a permanent replacement is appointed, the release states.
