Calvert Marine Museum, 14200 Solomons Island Road, Solomons, will hold two events over the holidays.
Learn about fossils 1-3 p.m. Dec. 27. Bring a fossil to be identified, hear the story of the museum’s Stafford Hall whale skull, learn how fossils are made and play the fossil game.
Maritime Day will be held during regular museum hours Dec. 30. Hear about the background of the maritime gallery artifacts, dig into maritime exploration boxes, learn to tie nautical knots, sing sea chanteys, dress like a waterman and get your picture taken with real oyster tongs.
Museum admission required for both events.
Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and military, $4 for ages 5–12 and free for children younger than 5 and members.
