Due to inclement weather forecasts and decreasing temperatures potentially freezing roadways, Charles County Public Schools canceled all afternoon and evening activities.
The school system cited the National Weather Service’s hazardous weather outlook which indicates Charles County will experience temperatures in the single digits later this evening and into Tuesday. NWS has issued a wind chill advisory for tonight through Tuesday evening.
Students are reminded to dress appropriately in extreme weather conditions.
School system spokeswoman Katie O’Malley-Simpson said the decision to cancel after school activities was made in anticipation of much lower temperatures and the potential for freezing roadways.
She said staff will meet at 3 p.m. to discuss any decision for Tuesday.
