A dog died Tuesday evening in Waldorf after being shot by a robber.
At 11 p.m. Jan. 14, Charles County sheriff’s officers were dispatched to the 1000 Block of Stoddart Avenue when someone reported gunfire.
When they arrived, a 21 year-old man told police he was walking his dog when someone pulled up to him, demanded money and shot the dog.
Animal control arrived to take the dog. Officers reported the dog died of injuries sustained from being shot.
At this time the motive in the incident is unclear, but officers say it looks like the man was targeted.
Investigators are working to establish a motive.
