In light of the snow falling in Charles County, several county operations have halted for the afternoon.

About 10 a.m. Tuesday, Charles County government officials announced it would halt operations at noon, as would the county’s district and dircuit courts. Charles County Public Schools declared a snow day, along with a code blue for staff.

The county landfill and recycling center, along with the Pisgah center, are scheduled to close at 2 p.m. All senior centers and community centers in the county are closed, as well, along with the Tri-County Animal Shelter, daytime classes at the College of Southern Maryland, Department of Health and all library branches. Commissioners’ President Candice Quinn Kelly’s town hall meeting, scheduled for this evening, also has been canceled due to the weather.

Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf is open to the public as a warming center and will remain open until 7 p.m. All campuses of the College of Southern Maryland are closed for the remainder of the day. VanGO is operating as normal.
