Schools closed; Pax River, county offices start late

Patuxent River Naval Air Station is opening Wednesday morning on a three-hour delayed arrival schedule following Tuesday’s snowstorm. Critical employees must report to work as scheduled, according to base officials. All other employees may take unscheduled leave, telework or leave without pay.

Employees were advised to notify their supervisors as soon as possible. Administrative leave will be granted for the hours before the set delayed arrival time.

Child care, the drill hall and youth center were open regular hours Wednesday. The pass and identification office was set to open on a three-hour delay.

The mini mart opened at 9 a.m., with the pharmacy set to open at 9:30. The Navy Exchange was due to open at 10 a.m.

The River’s Edge conference center and all Eddie’s Eateries were closed Wednesday, and intramurals on base were postponed.

All St. Mary’s County public schools were closed Wednesday for the second day in a row, as were all campuses of the College of Southern Maryland.

County government administrative offices were due to open at 10 a.m. Circuit and district court planned a noon opening.

Senior activity centers were closed and Meal on Wheels deliveries cancelled.

Recreation and parks before and after school programs in the schools were cancelled.

The Great Mills Swimming Pool and Gymnastics Center opened at 9 a.m. All recreation centers were due to open at noon.

St. Mary’s County STS bus service, St. Andrew’s Landfill and the six trash convenience centers were due to begin operations at noon. All three St. Mary’s County libraries were set to open at noon.
