A Bethesda man died Thursday in an accident on Interstate 270 in Frederick County.
Sydney Prather, 53, was driving a 2007 Hyundai north on 1-270 north of Bennett Creek when, according to Maryland State Police, his car drifted off the road and onto the median. Police said Prather then lost control of the car and it traveled back onto the road, where it was struck by a 2012 Nissan driven by Marsha Larson, 45, of West Virginia. Prather’s car then struck an embankment and overturned, police said.
Prather was pronounced dead on the scene. Larson was taken to Frederick Memorial hospital for her injuries.
Northbound I-270 was closed for about four hours during the investigation.
No information was available on Larson’s condition Friday, according to state police Cpl. David Ward.
