The St. Mary’s County Board of Education’s scheduled budget forum for tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 5, beginning at 6 p.m. will be expanded to include a proposal to hold classes on President’s Day, Monday, Feb. 17, to make up for one of the days schools have been closed by snow.
The school calendar had five inclement weather dates built in, along with one additional makeup date; a staff development day set for May 2. The school system has currently used seven inclement weather days because of snow or ice.
The superintendent’s recommendation to use President’s Day as a school day will satisfy the current makeup days needed. The school board will take action on the information item at its regularly scheduled meeting on Feb. 12, at 9 a.m. For more information call 301-475-5511, ext. 32177.
