Maryland Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles Lollar said he has chosen Kenneth R. Timmerman to be his running mate Monday, a day prior to the candidate filing deadline.
A longtime investigative reporter and conservative political activist, Timmerman was scheduled to make his first public appearance with Lollar Monday for an interview on WBFF-TV, the Baltimore-based Fox News affiliate, before the pair formally filed as candidates in the June primary.
Timmerman, a Frederick County resident, is a former president of the Maryland Taxpayers Association. He unsuccessfully challenged Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D) in the state’s 8th Congressional District in 2012.
