A woman was in a hospital Tuesday morning being treated for a stab wound in her back, law officers report, and her boyfriend was also hospitalized and under police guard following an incident the night before at the pair’s Leonardtown home.

Maryland State Police responding at 8:30 p.m. Monday to the Washington Street residence met James M. Young, 32, and Lashawn M. Hurley, 34, coming down the steps of the apartment, according to police. The troopers saw what appeared to be a knife’s blade protruding from Hurley’s back, police report, and Young told troopers that he had ingested some pills.

They both were taken to Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital, police report, before Hurley was transferred to the Prince George’s Hospital Center.

Hurley and Young have lived together at the apartment for about four years, according to police, and hospital personnel have told investigators both Hurley and Young are expected to survive.

No charges were reported as of Tuesday morning from the ongoing investigation.
