The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating two vehicle fires in Waldorf.

At 2:08 p.m. March 21, a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe caught fire on Berry Road. The damage estimate was $5,000. The Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene and had the fire out in two minutes.

Deputy Fire Marshal Don Brenneman reported that the SUV was being driven at the time the fire ignited. The accidental fire, which started in the engine compartment, destroyed the vehicle, but no injuries were reported.

A fire destroyed a 2005 Chevrolet Impala at 10:31 p.m. March 23 in the 2800 block of Starling Drive, Deputy Fire Marshal Melissa Bean reported.

The fire, which started inside the car, was discovered by a passerby. Damage was estimated at $2,500.

Firefighters from the Waldorf VFD had the blaze under control in five minutes, Bean reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 443-550-6834.
