The Southern Maryland Sabres Bantam LA travel team completed its regular season on Feb. 23, defeating the Tri-City Eagles to earn the third position and a playoff spot in the Bantam LA division of the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League.

March 1 was the first playoff game against the second-ranked NOVA Ice Dogs. After a hard battle, this game ended in a 3-1 victory as the Sabres scored into an empty net to advance to the championship game.

The Sabres faced their biggest challenge as they hit the ice to play Richmond Royals, who had only lost once in the 22-game season and they had beaten the Sabres twice in regular season (5-3 and 9-2).

Richmond scored a goal in each of the first two periods, leaving the Sabres down 2-0 and scoreless entering the final period of the game. The Sabres finally hit the net 1 minute 4 seconds into the third period and managed two more goals within the next five minutes to take a 3-2 lead. It was a lead that the Sabres would not give up as it won the 2014 CBHL Lower Patrick Championship 3-2.

In the back row are assistant coach Stacey Craft, assistant coach Shawn Fouladi, Alex Delaney, Nick Lane, Dominic De Long, Jacob Redman, Jake Pilkerton, assistant coach Mark Eagles and head coach Bill Coady. In the middle row are Garrett Hayes, Luke Sprague, Josh Stevenson, Derek McKee, CJ Craft, Merrick Kibler, Antonio Briggs-Blake, Reid Everett, Andrew Williams and Phil Higdon.
