Thanks to an anonymous tip, Montgomery County police have made an arrest in a Gaithersburg convenience store armed robbery from March.
Ronzell Fonte Hunter, 24, of Montgomery Village, was charged with one count of armed robbery in connection with a heist at the 7-Eleven at 418 Allied Place.
According to police, a man armed with a gun vaulted the counter, ordered an employee to open the register, then made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police said in a news release that an arrest warrant was generated for Hunter on March 13, but his whereabouts were unknown.
On March 25, police posted a photo of Hunter in a news release at its official blog, MyMCPNews.com, with hopes it would generate leads. Police spokeswoman Janelle Smith said an anonymous tip led police to Hunter, who was found by U.S. Marshals in Princess Anne, Md., on April 30.
Hunter is being held on $500,000 bail, according to court records accessed online.
An attorney for Hunter was not listed in online District Court records.
