More than 30 rescue personnel have been dispatched for water rescues after 4-5 inches of rain have fallen in the past 24 hours, said Pete Piringer, Montgomery Fire and Rescue Service public information officer.

Piringer said the intense rain this morning resulted in people being stranded in their cars, but no injuries have occoured.

The Potomac River is expected to flood in some areas of Montgomery County by Sunday.

In Point of Rocks of Frederick county, the river is expected to rise from 9½ feet to 23 feet. Light rain showers are probable this eventing southern edge of Montgomery county this evening.
