The Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad is reporting that the department is still working a "large mansion fire" in its first due area.

The house is believed to be the former home of the Rev. Dr. Robert "Shine" Freeman on Rivers Edge Road in Potomac Heights. It has been vacant for a few years. The 9,000-square-foot mansion overlooks the Potomac River.

Freeman was sentenced to 27 months in prison in August 2012 and ordered to pay more than $630,000 in restitution for obstructing bankruptcy court proceedings by hiding assets purchased with church funds, including the $1.75 million waterfront mansion.
