The two Charles County Board of Education incumbents fared well in Tuesday’s election as both move on to the general election Nov. 4, along with 12 new faces vying for a seat on the seven-member board.

According to preliminary election results from the website of the Charles County Board of Elections, the top vote getter was Jennifer S. Abell, followed by Mike Lukas.

There were 20 candidates on the ballot, whom voters thinned down to 14 candidates. Voters will choose the final seven board members from the 14 who survived the primary at the general election Nov. 4.

Besides Lukas and Abell also moving ahead were Victoria T. Kelly, Virginia McGraw, Margaret T. Marshall, Barbara Palko, Robert Pitts, Mark Crawford, Melissa Pascarella, Jason Henry Sr., Michael A. Wilson, Stephen Ziegler, Lorina Harris and Karla M. Kornegay.
