Both directions of Route 301 in White Plains were closed temporarily Thursday afternoon as firefighters worked an accidental kitchen fire at a nearby restaurant.
Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department spokesman Jeff Duer said at 2:07 p.m., emergency personnel were called to the Prime Street Grill in White Plains for a fire.
He said the accidental kitchen fire took firefighters from volunteer stations in Waldorf, La Plata, Bryans Road, Hughesville and Potomac Heights 10 minutes to control.
Duer said both sides of the highway were closed for about 45 minutes so firefighters could get water to fight the fire.
Duer said there were no injuries reported, and the restaurant would be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
