InterContinental Hotels Group has opened its second Even Hotels property, at 1775 Rockville Pike, Rockville.

The new brand targets patrons seeking wellness amenities, including “calming” design elements such as plenty of natural light; organic, vegetarian and low-fat menu items; a gym with spin and yoga classes, plus morning community runs; and eucalyptus fiber bed linens, according to a company news release. The U.K. company opened an Even Hotel in Norwalk, Conn., last month and plans to open three in New York City.

The 167-room Rockville hotel is in the seven-story building that previously housed a Holiday Inn Express, another InterContinental brand.

Before that, it was a Legacy Hotel, whose owner filed for bankruptcy protection in 2011 after losing a $5 million lawsuit to a jewelry retailer the previous year.

The hotel is planning a reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with cooking demonstrations and tours.
