Detectives with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office identified a young suspect who reportedly molested a 4-year-old boy at the Capital Clubhouse last week.
The suspect is a 10-year-old boy from Charles County, the sheriff’s office reported.
The 4-year-old boy was at the clubhouse for an event July 20 and began playing with an older boy whom he had just met.
Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Diane Richardson said later that evening the younger boy described to a family member an incident between him and the older child that was consistent with a sexual assault.
The sheriff’s office reported Friday afternoon that detectives assigned to the criminal investigations division identified the suspect Thursday evening after pursuing several leads.
The case will be reviewed with the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing.
