A water pipe burst in Bowie on Tuesday, according to the city’s Public Works department.
Crews are on the scene assessing the extent of the problem, according to Bowie Councilwoman Diane Polangin (Dist. 2), who sent an email to her constituents Tuesday afternoon.
“To keep pressure up within the City water system, additional pumps have been turned on, which are stirring up some sediment in the lines and causing brown water,” Polangin said. “In the meantime — do not wash clothes.”
As of 2:30 p.m., the city’s public works director was on site at the city’s water plant and could not be reached.
