The American Legion and the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 91 of Cambridge made a donation to the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home on June 17.

The veterans home was presented with a 12-foot-by-6-foot enclosed trailer, intended for the support and readiness of emergency response.

The trailer will assist the veterans home’s emergency action plan by having certain materials on hand to secure the building and protect residents and staff in case of an emergency, according to a news release.

Those items, which were previously stored in a warehouse, include plywood, lumber, sheet plastic, tape, fasteners, portable lighting and other tools.

If there is a need for the materials, the trailer can be relocated to that part of the campus and be available immediately.

The donation enhances Charlotte Hall’s emergency response preparedness, the release states.

In addition to many other donations, American Legion Post 91 was the primary supporter of the residents’ activities kitchen that was added in 2012.

The veterans home has benefitted from the kindness and generosity of American Legion Post 91 membership as well as the many other organizations that support the resident veterans at Charlotte Hall.
