Public Relations Individuals of Southern Maryland will hold a breakfast presentation Sept. 18 at Ye Olde Towne Cafe at 22685 Washington St. in Leonardtown.
Breakfast and the presentation begin at 8 a.m. Kristine Wilcox will discuss “Engaging the Media” to help members improve interviewing skills. Participants will learn the importance of interacting with the media, tips for controlling the interview and how to reach the media to pitch a story or event.
Open to the public, the event is $15 for members and $18 for nonmembers, which includes the cost of the presentation and breakfast. To register, go to prismonline.info.
Wilcox has been a writer, editor and designer for more than 20 years, with more than seven years as a strategic communications and multimedia adviser for internal and external messaging in Department of Defense programs led by military and civilian executive leadership.
At the Naval Air Systems Command, she serves as a qualified professional in journalism, crisis communications, strategic planning and communications analysis, social media, multimedia productions and graphic design. She is a senior communications and multimedia specialist with AVIAN’s Information and Multimedia Services division.
