A Lusby man was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault after allegedly stabbing his father, leaving him in critical condition.
On Jan. 17, deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 500 block of Antelope Trail in Lusby for the report of a stabbing, a release from the sheriff’s office states. While en route, officers located the suspect, Timothy James Barton, 27, walking a short distance away from the residence. Barton was subsequently apprehended.
Preliminary investigation revealed Barton reportedly stabbed his 53-year-old father, who resides in the same home. The victim was transported to CalvertHealth Medical Center and subsequently airlifted to Prince George’s Shock Trauma Center. He is currently in critical condition, according to the release.
The sheriff’s office distributed a Nixle alert to the public at 12:01 p.m., stating Chisolm Trail was shut down due to police activity.
A second alert was sent at 12:51 p.m., informing the community the road was clear.
