Somerville graduates
Air Force Airman Wandell K. Somerville graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Somerville earned distinction as an honor graduate.
He is the grandson of Valeria and James Somerville of Loveville. He is a 2008 graduate of Leonardtown High School.
Three area cadets complete course
Terrence J. Horne, Christine F. Muders and Cory J. Middleton graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash.
The 32 days of training are designed to train and evaluate cadets in military life, administration and logistical support. Although continued military training and leadership development is included in the curriculum, the primary focus of the course is to develop and evaluate each cadet's officer potential as a leader by exercising the cadet's intelligence, common sense, ingenuity and physical stamina.
Cadets in their junior and senior year of college must complete the leadership development course. Upon successful completion of the course, the ROTC program, and graduation from college, cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, National Guard or Reserve.
Horne is a student at Providence College in R.I. He is the son of Mary P. Johnson of Great Mills. The cadet is a 2006 graduate of Great Mills High School.
Muders is a student at the University of Maryland in College Park. She is the daughter of Dean P. and Diane E. Muders of California. The cadet is a 2006 graduate of Great Mills High School.
Middleton is the son of Karen L. Guy of Mechanicsville. He is a 2006 graduate of Chopticon High School in Morganza.
Moorlag completes basic training
Air Force Airman Jordan W. Moorlag graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Moorlag is the son of Lynn Vanorman of California and grandson of Dale Moorlag of Seal Beach, Calif.
Stewart graduates
Air Force Airman Brihanna K. Stewart graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
She is the daughter of Kelly Stewart of Lexington Park and Joe Stewart of Clements. The airman is a 2008 graduate of Great Mills High School.
Tennyson completes basic combat training
Pvt. April Skye Tennyson graduated from Army Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri on Oct. 29 after nine weeks of intense training.
Tennyson was a member of B Company, 3-10 Infantry Battalion, 3rd Platoon.
She will remain in Fort Leonard Wood for advanced individual training.
Tennyson is the daughter of Jamie and Kim Tennyson of Clements. She is a 2005 graduate of Chopticon High School in Morganza. Her grandparents are Jackie and Virginia Tennyson of Chaptico and Marjorie and the late Harry Jones of Leonardtown.
Scott graduates
Johnathan E. Scott graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash.
