April Lyons will try to become yet another successful Calvert High School volleyball coach after the former Cavalier was recently named head varsity coach.
Calvert’s run through the 13-and-under Babe Ruth Baseball Maryland State All-Star Tournament came to an end in the championship game on Tuesday, with a loss to Frederick at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf.
After a recent five-game losing streak, Calvert American Legion Post 85, 206, 220 and 274 would take a win any way it could. And against visiting Mayo on Wednesday at Hallowing Point Park in Prince Frederick, the team earned a 4-3 victory thanks to one of the more obscure rules of the game.
