The Humane Society of Calvert County recently hosted Girl Scout Troop No. 2524 at the Fishing Creek Kennel in Sunderland. The 12 young women were working on their ‘‘Community” badge. They raised enough funds for each girl to obtain a sponsorship of a dog or cat. This money enables the humane society to care for their animals in a variety of ways, including feeding, housing and veterinary care. They took a tour of the kennel and got to spend one-on-one time with several dogs. At left, they are pictured with Tank, a pit bull who is a big ham and loves the limelight. The girls met with Humane Society of Calvert County President Kelly St. Marie and Vice President Sally Lounsbury. Several volunteers and staff members got to talk with the girls.
