Christmas tree recycling options offered

The town of La Plata is scheduled to pick up discarded Christmas trees through Jan. 8. Pickup will be on regularly scheduled trash collection days or the day after. Folks should place their trees next to their trash cans. Do not leave trees in plastic bags and all lights, decorations and tree stands must be removed.

Charles County has drop-off sites for trees, including one on Radio Station Road in La Plata across from the entrance to Laurel Springs Park. The site will be open 24 hours a day through Jan. 9.

The town of Indian Head is scheduled to pick up discarded Christmas trees Jan.6 through Jan. 26. Pickup will be on collected Wednesdays. Residents should place their trees curbside with regular yard waste. Decorations must be removed from trees. Call 301-743-5511.
