A Newburg garage with an attached apartment caught fire Wednesday, but authorities aren't sure what sparked the blaze, according to a report from the State Fire Marshal's Office. A neighbor discovered the Sankston Place fire at about 9:50 a.m. About 30 rescue workers from the Newburg, Cobb Island, Bel Alton, La Plata, Mechanicsville and King George, Va., volunteer fire departments controlled the blaze within about 30 minutes, the report stated. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
