‘‘Opening Bead Boutique was a dream for me for a long time and now that it is up and running it feels wonderful!” says owner Tricia Darrow. ‘‘I wanted a store that when someone walked in they would smile and say ‘Yippee! Beads!’ And I’ve been happy to witness that reaction quite a few times since the store opened its doors on Dec. 1.”
Opening day saw people coming from all over the Tri-County area, from as far away as White Plains in Charles County and Avenue in St. Mary’s.
Darrow will be offering classes in all aspects of beaded jewelry starting Jan. 10.
There will be different times through the week during the winter months so that everyone will be able to find a class suited to their needs. Currently, 15 different beading project classes are scheduled — a full listing can be found at the shop’s Web site, www.mdbeadboutique.com.
Drop-ins are welcome in the store during business hours and help creating one’s own piece is offered, as time is available.
Darrow, who shares her knowledge and expertise, welcomes questions and loves to help everyone from the novice to the experienced in finding the right beads for them.
Darrow also offers classes through the Calvert and St. Mary’s counties Parks and Rec programs.
Those schedules are on the shop Web site as well as each county’s Web site.
