Calvert Hospice will be conducting hospice training for new volunteers beginning Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Calvert Hospice Office at 238 Merrimac Court in Prince Frederick.
This is a date change from a previous calendar release. The nine following sessions will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Calvert Hospice office.
Calvert Hospice volunteers work with hospice patients, bereavement support groups, in the office and at special events.
The 33-hour volunteer training program includes instruction on the hospice philosophy, the process of grief and bereavement and the details of caring for patients in their homes.
Participants will learn skills that will not only assist the as volunteers, but will be useful in everyday life.
Volunteers become part of the interdisciplinary team that provides hospice care to those living with a terminal illness and supporting their loved ones in Calvert County.
Training is free. Call Ann Lavezzo, volunteer coordinator at Calvert Hospice, at 410-535-0892 or 301-855-1226.
