Calvert Hospice recently elected three new individuals to its board of directors: Brad Hocker, a sales manager with Comcast Spotlight; Nayantara Mendonca, an M.D. with Calvert Internal Medicine Group; and John Shay Jr., a partner with Knight, Manzi, Nussbaum & LaPlaca, P.A.
Hocker has been with Comcast for 20 years and has earned a reputation for success with the company, according to a press release.
Sales revenue grew substantially under Hocker’s leadership as local sales manager at Comcast in Frederick.
Currently, Hocker is the Southern Maryland Sales Manager at Comcast Spotlight in Waldorf.
Hocker’s personal commitment to ‘‘give back” to a hospice organization led him to pursue membership on the board.
Mendonca has been a part of Calvert Internal Medicine Group for four years and was a hospitalist at Calvert Memorial Hospital prior to joining the group, according to the release.
Mendonca served her residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago, which is affiliated with Northwestern University.
Mendonca is a member of the American Medical Association and American College of Physicians.
Mendonca’s experience with hospice as a hospitalist and private physician sparked her interest in serving on the board.
Shay has been with Knight, Manzi, Nussbaum & LaPlaca, P.A. for 25 years, as both an associate, and for the last 20 years, a partner.
Shay is a member of the Maryland Bar Association and the Calvert County Bar Association. Prior to joining the Hospice Board of Directors, Shay was a member and past president of the Friends of Calvert Hospice.
