Women's wellness to be focus of free program Feb. 28

Happy Valentine's Day, Feb. 14!

A Women's Wellness Program, presented by the St. Mary's Delicados Inc. and St. Mary's Hospital, will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Mechanicsville.

This program is free and includes health screenings, a continental breakfast and lunch and health displays and educational materials. Featured topics are "Anemias," "Living Well with Arthritis," "Dental Health and Medical Issues," "Riding the Hormone Roller-Coaster" and "Women's Health and Wellness."

Don't miss the basket bingo to benefit the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad on Thursday, Feb. 19. This event will be held at the Mechanicsville fire department social hall, with doors to open at 5:30 p.m.; bingo starts at 7 p.m.

Patuxent Presbyterian Church (USA) in California will hold its annual Shrove Tuesday pancake supper on Feb. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the the church's fellowship hall. Join in for some hot pancakes and warm fellowship to prepare for Ash Wednesday and the season of Lent.

The third annual basket bingo sponsored by Bay Country Contractors (with all proceeds going to Piney Point PTA for school events) will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Valley Lee firehouse. Doors will open at 6 p.m.; bingo starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door; additional books are $5 each. Each person must have an admission ticket to enter. Children must have their own tickets and must be accompanied by an adult. There will be more than $5,000 worth of Longaberger products available to win. There will be only one item won per game.

For the basket raffle for a wrought-iron TV stand with wood shelves and baskets, tickets are $3 each or two for $5. For the 50/50 raffle tickets the price is $1 each or six for $5.
