Commissioners not in session next week The Charles County commissioners will not be in session. The commissioners will be representing the county at other meetings and will conduct individual appointments as scheduled.

Monday, Feb. 16

Motor Vehicle Administration will close its full-service and express offices Feb. 16 in observance of President's Day. All vehicle emissions inspection program stations will also be closed.

Charles County government offices and the Tri-County Animal Shelter will be closed Feb. 16 in observance of Presidents Day. Curbside recycling service and the operation of the county landfill, recycling centers and composting facility will not be affected.

Charles County Commissioner Reuben B. Collins II (D) will conduct a district meeting for Commissioner District 3 residents from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Capital Clubhouse, 3033 Waldorf Marketplace, Waldorf. Call 301-638-2402 or e-mail langj@charlescounty.org.

Thursday, Feb. 19

Saturday, Feb. 21

St. Mary's College of Maryland Board of Trustees will meet Feb. 21 at the college's Glendening Student Service Building Annex, St. Mary's City. The general session is open to the public and will begin at 11 a.m. Call Marc Apter at 240-895-4381.

Monday, Feb. 23

Northern Democratic Club of Charles County will meet 6 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Hong Kong Buffet, 3331 Plaza Way, Waldorf. Speakers will be Mary Jane Short and Thelma Woodland of the Bel Alton High School Development Center and Mary Boyd of the African-American Heritage Society. Dinner is $15. Tuesday, Feb. 24

Charles County Board of Zoning and Appeals will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 24 at the county government building, 200 Baltimore St., La Plata. Items on the agenda include a request by Charles County Sand & Gravel Co. for a special exception to build a youth baseball field on about two acres of a 143-acre parcel in the rural conservation zone at Route 5 and Cedar Hill Place in Waldorf. Thursday, Feb. 26

Greater Baden Aquasco Citizen Association will hold a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Baden Firehouse, 16608 Brandywine Road, Baden. There will be an update on the rubble fill and Subregion 6 Master Plan as it pertains to agriculture. Call 301-888-2831.
