Women's commission sets Tubman event

The Charles County Commission for Women will host "A Tribute to Harriet Tubman" celebrating Women's History Month from 6 to 8 p.m. March 12 in Bel Alton.
The free public community program for adults and students features a lecture, gallery exhibit and buffet dinner.
"Harriet Tubman – Meet the Woman" lecture stars actress Gwendolyn Briley Strand and is made possible with funds from the Maryland Humanities Council.
Known as the "Moses of Her People," Tubman led hundreds of enslaved people to freedom by way of the Underground Railroad. Seating is limited and registration is required. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Sign language interpretation is available upon two weeks advance request.
