Rachel Clements, left, and her younger sister Becca Clements, both St. Mary’s College of Maryland students, cleanup litter along the Chesapeake Bay’s Elms Beach on Saturday morning. More than 3,000 volunteers pitched in at a number of locations throughout Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania for the Potomac River Watershed Cleanup. This was the 19th annual cleanup, which is coordinated by the Alice Ferguson Foundation. Some of the more interesting items found Saturday at different cleanup sites include strollers, traffic cones, a truck cap, a hockey stick, a coffee maker, political campaign signs, a fan with bullet holes and enough lumber to build a pier.
