Shooting draws many charges

Friday, April 4, 2008

Two Indian Head teens were indicted and charged as adults on dozens of counts stemming from an alleged armed robbery and attempted murder that occurred in Welcome last month.

Police say Jamal Lionel Rosier, 16, and Rayvon Anthony Walls, 17, were fingered by their robbery victim after he braved gunfire to chase them down Annapolis Woods Road and crash their vehicle.

According to police, the victim met Rosier and Walls on Riley Place in Welcome on March 5. Police did not say why the victim met the defendants.

In the course of the meeting, the victim said the defendants pointed handguns at his head and demanded money. The defendants allegedly took the victim’s keys, cellular phone and wallet containing $509.

The victim went back to his car and began to leave when the defendants allegedly began firing at him. The defendants then fled north on Annapolis Woods Road. The victim followed them and caught up to them in the 7200 block of Annapolis Woods Road. The victim said that one of the defendants fired four shots from the passenger side of the car.

The victim allegedly crashed into the defendants’ car, disabling it. The defendants allegedly fled.

Police were called to the scene by a report of a hit-and-run accident. They found the victim, who led them to the scene of the crash. Police then found the defendants, whom the victim allegedly identified as his assailants.

Both Rosier and Walls were charged with armed robbery, attempted murder, several counts of drug possession with intent to distribute and using firearms in drug trafficking. They were released last month on $50,000 bond each to await trial.

Their arraignments are scheduled for April 25.
