School employees honored
Each month, St. Mary's public school staff members are recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty.

New after-school program opened at old Carver school
St. Mary's County Department of Recreation and Parks last month began offering an after-school program every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the old George Washington Carver Elementary School in Lexington Park. The program is for students in first through eighth grade and includes opportunities for children to participate in a homework club, computer lab, literacy activities, arts and crafts, games and physical activity.
