Hughes joinsbusiness network
The Southern Maryland Business Network recently welcomed new member Alethia Hughes of Comcast Spotlight. The Waldorf business provides local cable advertising, customized advertising packages and an in-house production team.
Hughes is also a member of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce.
SMBN is an independent, nonprofit, self-directed organization. Members are dedicated to being a ‘‘virtual sales force” for other members of the group, by exchanging quality business referrals and developing new business relationships. Meetings are held Tuesdays from 8-9:30 a.m. at Southwinds Adult Active Community just off Billingsley Road on Southwinds Place.
Sutten, Thompson topproducers for Century 21
Jeff Sutten and Tara Thompson recently earned Century 21 System’s Centurion Producer Awards.
The awards honor sales associates who have significant sales achievement. Sutten and Thompson were presented with Centurion Award statues and lapel pins in addition to being recognized at the annual awards banquet in March.
Last year was Sutten’s second full year in real estate.

Vickers, Jarekon the rise at Lia Sophia
Nicole Vickers of Accokeek has been promoted from adviser to unit manager for jewelry company Lia Sophia.
The promotion offers such benefits as additional commissions, overrides, monthly bonuses and jewelry premiums.
Shannon Jarek of Issue has earned top honors in the excellent beginnings program achievers program with Lia Sophia.
All new advisers have the opportunity to increase earnings and earn free jewelry as part of the program. The plan honors those who have stayed on track in their first four months of business.
Health foundationelects officers
The board of directors for Maryland Foundation for Quality Healthcare Inc. elected new officers March 13.
Dr. Howard M. Haft was elected president. Dr. Karl Salman, a board-certified endocrinologist, was elected vice president.
Secretary⁄treasurer is Carol J. Wright, a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator.
The officers will serve until March 31, 2008.
