Davis receives college scholarship

Liesel Davis of Waldorf was recently awarded a $1,000 college scholarship from the Carson Scholars Fund, founded by pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson.
According to a press release, the Carson Scholars Fund recognizes students who have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher and who have demonstrated a strong commitment to their community.
Davis is a fifth-grade student at William B.ÊWade Elementary. She is a safety patrol at Wade, was a student host for new students and helps out a neighbor as a mother’s helper. She is hoping to attend college to become a veterinarian.
Davis was nominated by her teachers Jaime Gesl and Karen Gesl. She also wrote an essay about who inspired her for the contest.
She is the daughter of Ingrid Davis and Nnamdi Davis of Waldorf.
