The Prince George’s County Police Department and Maryland State Police teamed up to perform a third extensive sweep April 18 against illegal street racing since a crash killed eight people Feb. 16 in Accokeek, including four from Charles County.
With additional patrols and the use of an airplane, officers increased the surveillance of locations identified as potential street-racing sites including the Indian Head Highway and Branch Avenue corridors.
Sixty-four citations were issued, including 23 speeding tickets and one DWI arrest.
