Arsons reported in St. Leonard, Solomons

On April 30 at 10:30 a.m., the fire marshal's office investigated a fire at the Dowell House in St. Leonard which is owned by Calvert County Parks and Recreation Department. Someone ignited wood chairs, valued at $100, that were placed at the rear basement entrance of the building sometime during the past few days. The fire was out upon discovery by county employee Phillip Freeland. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
On April 5 at 1:15 a.m. the fire marshal's office investigated a fire at the public restrooms on Solomons Island. The fire, deemed arson, was the result of someone igniting toilet paper inside the men's restroom. The fire caused minor damage to the wall along with some smoke damage throughout the building. Estimated loss is $300.
