Denis Canavan, director of land use and growth management, asked the St. Mary’s County commissioners Tuesday for and got $18,200 to replace a large-format copier for the department.
The current copier is 10 years old.
‘‘It’s breaking down. We need a new copier,” he said.
It is used to produce site plans, plats and other large illustrations.
The old one will be sent to the department of recreation and parks until it breaks down for good.
New parts aren’t being made for it anymore, Canavan said. The replacement cost was originally budgeted at $12,000, but the department needed $6,200 more.
