Voters, you asked for it and you got it

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

The letters to the editor in the May 21 Independent concerning the property tax increase were quite entertaining.

Don’t get me wrong I also find the increase quite objectionable given the current situation with property values decreasing that in the real world would translate into decreasing taxes. But this is not the real world; it is the world of liberals.

Democrats never saw a tax increase they didn’t like. I ask the criers and complainers what did you expect when you danced in the streets on election night when a complete set of these folks was elected by you and installed to represent your interests in the county and the state. Well, you asked for it, now you got it.

Keep this in mind in November when you again visit the polling place.

Remember all the high-dollar promises made to you by those running for public office. Keep in mind that they are not talking about spending their money; they are talking about spending your money.

Vote the way you always have. You threw out the one state official who held the line on spending. You installed a complete set of tax-and-spenders in all the state and county key positions.

Please don’t disappoint me, voters of Maryland; vote for more of the same.

Stop your incessant complaining.

Give them a pat on the back for hiking your taxes when they get to the task of fulfilling their promises you voted for while you try to figure out how to pay your bills and live within your budget.

Say, is that not a novel idea?

Live within your budget.

Too bad it’s lost on those you elected; but why should they worry, they know you will be there for them no matter what they do that runs contrary to good sense.
