Player of the year

Katherine Athens

Huntingtown junior midfielder

Resume: She took 77 shots this season and scored 31 goals, 2 on free-positions; won 40 draw controls, topped out on team with 25 groundball controls and had 16 caused turnovers; named Huntingtown's most valuable player

High praise:"She was amazing this season. She outhustled just about everyone we played, she faceguarded other team's top middie to keep them from scoring. My team would not have been successful without her. Her positive attitude is contagious on the field. She is a dream to coach." – Maggie Pike, Huntingtown head coach

Coach of the year

Anthony Barone

Patuxent (sixth season)

Resume: Barone led the Panthers to an 11-5 overall this season and a second-place 8-2 second in SMAC. After an April 2 loss to Leonardtown, they went on to win their next seven games until another loss to the Raiders to end the regular season on May 5. Patuxent got past Northern in the Class 3A-2A East region quarterfinals, but then lost to top-seed Stephen Decatur in the next round.

High praise: "He's a real motivator for his team. They were known for being the team with the best ground ball percentage. When he stepped out on the field, his leadership and good coaching style really showed." – Pike
