Authorities reported on Monday afternoon that there is a telephone power outage in the Nanjemoy area.
Many residents, particularly those using the 246 exchange, are unable to dial out for service, according to police.
Verizon workers are trying to fix the problem, but in the meantime, the Charles County Sheriff's Office has sent a command bus to help residents who do not have cell phones and need to make emergency phone calls.
The command bus will be stationed at the Nanjemoy Fire House at 4260 Port Tobacco Road until service is installed.
